SHAH ALAM - The ongoing atrocities in Palestine have persisted for 30 days as of Oct 7.

An average of 14 people lose their lives each hour in the Gaza Strip due to relentless bombings by the Israeli military.

The situation in the Jabalia refugee camp has been especially dire, where approximately two hundred Palestinian civilians have fallen victim to airstrikes.

These casualties contribute to the grim toll of around 10,000 Palestinian civilian deaths since Monday.

Al Jazeera has reported more than 2,000 people as missing since the onset of the conflict, with over 32,000 individuals sustaining injuries.

In the wake of this prolonged violence, nearly 1.5 million out of the 2.3 million population have been displaced and now live as refugees.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has disclosed a harrowing statistic, stating that around 50 percent of the Palestinians killed in this conflict are children, totaling 4,880 innocent lives.

Despite a month of relentless terror, Israel shows no signs of relenting. Even on the 30th day of occupation, the Israeli military launched over 100 airstrikes on Gaza City in less than an hour, resulting in numerous casualties.

Even more shockingly, it is reported that Israel has dropped more than 25,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, equivalent to the destructive power of the two nuclear bombs that laid waste to Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. This information comes from the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, a Geneva-based human rights organisation.

They revealed that the Israeli military has confirmed bombing over 12,000 targets in Gaza, with each bomb containing more than 10 kilograms of explosives.

The Euro-Med Monitor further highlighted that advancements in technology have increased the destructive power of these explosives beyond the scale of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima. While Hiroshima had an area of 900 square kilometres (km²), the Gaza Strip covers no more than 360 km².

International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) International Law expert Dr Mohd Yazid Zul Kepli has described this ongoing bloodshed as a crime of mass murder or genocide, primarily due to the high number of innocent civilian casualties.

He said that the occupation was not between two countries but rather a battle between the well-armed Zionist Israeli army and a small group of Palestinian fighters who lacked everything.

"The attacks of the Zionist regime are also increasing every day, causing the basic needs of health, food, electricity and water supply to be affected," he said.

To end this crisis, Mohd Yazid proposes three solutions:

  • The deployment of military aid from Muslim countries.
  • The opening of the Rafah border crossing.
  • A unified effort among all Muslim nations to provide sanctuary for Palestinian refugees.
