Chef Dave launches a Deepavali food series
With over 12 million likes and 820,000 followes on TikTok, Chef Dave, or his real name Kalidevan Murugaya, has built a strong following of food enthuasists who shares his love for vegan cuisine.
Chef Dave's journey to culinary started when he created content for Youtube and Facebook called Chef Dave Vegan Journey.
It is a compilation of local heritage food cooking recipe tutorials, albeit with a vegan twist.
The platform is also a social company located in Malaysia dedicated to advocating Vegan lifestyle and Animal Rights by making it simple to do so through social media content with Food, Life, and Travel.
In 2020, he set up D’Vegan Academy to empower home-based cooks to master basic cooking techniques and plant based cooking.
Now, the Malaysian Celebrity Chef has taken one step ahead by creating a Deepavali food series this year called 'Patti Veedu'.
This inaugural culinary venture combines elements of drama with a cooking show, marking a significant presence in the Tamil media industry
"Three years ago I started my content journey and it was very tough because I did not know how to shoot video and manage social media but my whole life changed during pandemic.
"We have come a long way and I am glad that with the support of my viewers, I am coming up with a unique series during Deepavali this year.
"Paati Veedu is a beatiful journey we have put together. We want to celebrate women who have been oppressed by the society till today," he said.
Patti Veedu is currently running for 15 episodes airing daily at 12.30pm.
The objective of Paati Veedu series is to honour, empower and celebrate the feminine energy.
At the same time, encouraging the elders to pass down our tradition, heritage and culture to the next generation during this season of Deepavali.
