ALOR SETAR - The actions of two Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs who pledged their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were described as difficult to understand and happened for a reason.

Kedah Bersatu chairman Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah said that everyone was entitled to their own perspectives when addressing local issues.

He added that the representatives may have based their decisions on pressing matters within their constituencies.

Suhaimi said that the issue of party loyalty is not paramount in this context, as the MPs' actions were primarily driven by concerns that demand immediate attention.

He said, "Everyone has their own way of thinking and their own separate problems.

"The question of loyalty to the party did not arise in this issue. Some politicians are confident in their party, and some prioritise their constituents' needs. Today's stance may differ from tomorrow's," he added.

Suhaimi added further that there were representatives who were deeply committed to their parties, defending them as if a fire were lit within themselves.

These comments were made in response to Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman from the PN, who declared his support for the PM on Monday.

Suhaili made this decision after considering the issues facing the Labuan population, including escalating living costs and persistent disruptions in water and electricity supply.

Similarly, on October 12, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid also pledged his support for the PM's leadership.

Iskandar clarified that his decision was driven by continuous complaints from his constituents and a pressing need to address the cost-of-living challenges in his area.

He, however, had said he would not leave or betray Bersatu in any situation on the principle of loyalty to the party.
