Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah expands to Labuan
LABUAN - Sabah-based political party, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) has expanded its presence to Labuan, with 21 branches and over 2,000 members.
The Labuan division of PGRS is led by Rosli Awang Damit, the younger brother of former Labuan Member of Parliament, Mulok Awang Damit.
PGRS’ president is Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor.
PGRS vice-president 1 Datuk Dr Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif said PGRS is collaborating closely with its component party of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) in Labuan, aiming to secure widespread acceptance among the island's diverse population.
He emphasised the party's commitment to working with PBS to achieve this goal.
"We want the Labuan PGRS to be accepted by the multiracial people on this island with the cooperation from PBS here,” he told reporters after officiating the Labuan PGRS inaugural annual general meeting at the Tiara Hotel in Labuan here today.
He was optimistic that PGRS has strong local roots and believes it can easily win the hearts of the people in Labuan.
Mohd Ariffin also stressed the importance of continuously expanding the party's membership through various platforms.
"The party aims to demonstrate its commitment to the people and gain their trust, not only in Sabah but also in Labuan.
"The expansion of Labuan PGRS represents a significant step forward for the party, and its leaders are optimistic about its prospects in this federal territory,” he said. - BERNAMA
