AMERICAN singer-songwriter Charlie Puth honored the late Matthew Perry with a piano rendition of the iconic Friends theme song, "I'll Be There for You" at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena, attended by over 7,000 fans.

Puth transitioned into his song "See You Again" in tribute to Perry, who passed away aged 54 a day earlier.

British artist Adele also remembered Perry during her Las Vegas show, expressing her admiration for his portrayal of Chandler Bing, whom she considered "probably the best comedic character of all time."

“It's shocking when someone who brought joy and laughter passes away, especially if we don’t know them personally," Rolling Stone quoted her as saying.

Law enforcement confirmed Perry's death on Saturday, with initial reports suggesting an apparent drowning at his Los Angeles home.

Perry's renowned role of Chandler Bing on Friends, alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, made the show a global sensation.

It aired from 1994 to 2004 with over 200 episodes.

Friends' executive producers, David Crane, Marta Kauffman, and Kevin Bright, described Perry to Rolling Stone as "a brilliant talent."
