SABAK BERNAM - Police are tracking down a suspect who had gone viral on Facebook after beating a garbage truck driver at Jalan 6, Jalan Panchang Bedena, Sungai Besar, here on Sunday.

Sabak Bernam district police chief Superintendent Agus Salim Mohd Alias said police received a report lodged from the 37-year-old driver about the incident which took place at about 9.30am.

He said the victim claimed he was beaten and threatened by the unknown suspect while driving the lorry to collect trash in the area.

“Early investigations found the suspect had blocked the path of the garbage truck and the victim sounded his horn for the suspect to remove his vehicle.

“However, the man acted aggressively by coming towards the victim in the lorry and berated him with obscenities as well as threatening and hitting him using a stick,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Agus Salim said the victim claimed he suffered injuries on his arm and received treatments at the Sabak Bernam Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Hospital (HTAJ) before he was discharged.

“The victim was traumatised by the incident he faced and claimed the suspect had threatened him,” he explained.

He said police opened investigation papers under Section 324/506 of the Penal Code and urged any individuals who witnessed the incident to come forward to aid investigations.
