KUALA LUMPUR - National golfer Natasha Andrea Oon intends to use the experience she gained playing at the 2023 Maybank Golf Tournament today when she makes her full-season debut at next year’s Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour.

The 22-year-old emerged as the best Malaysian player at the US$3 million (about RM14.34 million) event, finishing joint 52nd with German Esther Henseleit and South Korean Mi Hyan Lee, scoring a four-day total of three-under 285 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC).

"It's a great...competitive golf this year for me as it's a grand experience and glad I ended (under) par. There are these nerves you play with the crowds, and I'm not used to crowds so sometimes it's like overwhelming.

"It's such a great introduction to just what I should expect next year. I'm going to have get more comfortable playing in front of crowds with longer distances, longer irons," she told reporters here today, nothing how she still had room for improvement, especially to her putts, to be able to challenge world class players.

"I feel like everything needs work and nothing is perfect. So far, my drivers are amazing, but kind of like the short putts, where I tend to miss some... When it's really good, it's really good, and when it's not good it's very streaky,” Natasha said.

The scores of other Malaysians at the event are as follows, Jeneath Wong (joint 57th with one-under 287), Ashley Lau (joint 65th with three-over 291), Alyaa Abdulghany (73rd with nine-over 297) and Cambodia Sea Games women's gold medallist Ng Jing Xuen (74th 11-over 299), and lastly Malaysia’s top women's golfer Kelly Tan in 75th place 13-over 301. - BERNAMA
