KOTA TINGGI - An elderly man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a trailer at kilometre (KM) 47.5 on Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing (Hutan Panti) on Friday.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora said the accident was believed to have occurred at approximately 4.30am while the victim was riding alone to work.

"Due to the damage, the 74-year-old victim lost control of his vehicle while passing through KM 47.5 and struck a parked Hino trailer truck on the left side of the road.” "The collision involved the rear iron part on the right side of the trailer truck," he added.

In a statement on Friday, he said that "as a result, the victim suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene." The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.

Further investigation was still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.

The public is also advised to be more aware and always obey traffic rules to ensure mutual safety.
