After losing over 400,000 followers, Syamimia apologises over Palestine-Israel post
SINAR HARIAN REPORTERSHAH ALAM - Social media influencer Syamimia apologises over her Palestine-Israeli post after losing nearly half a million followers on her TikTok page and being ‘boycotted’ by online users.
Through a statement that was shared, Syamimia admitted that she was not updated of the current situation between Palestine and Israel and said that she would improve herself.
"Again, I would like to apologise to everyone for my mistakes.
"The issue of Palestine and the David sculpture has taught me to be a person who is more sensitive to current issues, and this is the biggest lesson in my life.
"I am with Palestine and the statue has been disposed of," she said.
Syamimia added that she was grateful to receive the guidance of many and confessed her guilt for not being concerned about current issues.
"I admit I am young and make mistakes. My weakness will be a lesson for me to be better in the future.
"Once again, I sincerely apologise if you feel offended by my actions and I have no intention of hurting anyone," she said in the statement.
Previously, Syamimia was one of the social media influencers who had a large following with a total of about 1.3 million people but she lost almost half a million followers following her post on the situation of Palestinians.
Even though she had apologised via a live broadcast on TikTok last week, most of her followers still chose to 'unfollow' because they felt that Syamimia was not concerned with the plight of the people in Palestine.
As of today, the number of followers on Syamimia's TikTok remains 863,900 people, while only 331,000 on Instagram.
