7-year-old boy dies, newborn seriously injured in crash
NORAWAZNI YUSOFLIPIS - A seven-year-old boy died while a six-month-old baby suffered serious injuries after the car they were travelling in with four other family members met with an accident at Kilometre 57, Jalan Lipis to Merapoh, Central Spine Road (CSR) here, yesterday.
In the incident which happened at about 6pm, Muhammad Ali Anaqi Mohd Ilham died while he was receiving treatment at the Lipis Hospital at 12.05am today
District police chief Superintendent Azli Mohd Noor said initial investigation found that the car driven by the victim's mother, Nursaryanie Sabri, 32, allegedly lost control and crashed into a road barrier on the left before crashing.
He claimed that Nursaryanie's 60-year-old father, his younger brother and their four children aged six-months to seven were on their way from Pasir Puteh, Kelantan to Kuala Lumpur
"It is believed that the driver of the Toyota Vios car lost control and crashed into a road barrier on the left side of the road at the scene.
"As a result of the accident, a seven-year-old boy and a six-month-old baby boy who were in the back seat suffered serious injuries," he said in a statement, today.
The case was being investigated in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and further investigation was carried out.
