MELAKA - A total of 68 per cent or 2,115 of the 3,378 students of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) who will be receiving their scrolls at the university’s convocation ceremony from Nov 4-6 are graduates in the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) field.

UTeM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin said of that total, 2,478 were Bachelor's Degree graduates who had at least one professional certification involving 25 high-level professional courses.

She said the achievement proves that UTeM continues to drive the empowerment of high-level TVET, thus making Melaka a TVET education hub that contributes to the state’s economic development.

"Every UTeM student must have a professional certification and UTeM will work on this initiative despite financial constraints, through various programmes with industry and professional bodies.

"This synergy is to inject high marketability among UTeM graduates and thus ensure that they get job opportunities that suit their field of study,” she told a press conference on UTeM 19th convocation ceremony here today.

Massila said the three-day event involved 505 Diploma graduates, Bachelor’s Degree (2,618 students), Master’s Degree (151), Doctor of Engineering (DEng) (four) and PhD (100). - BERNAMA
