SHAH ALAM - The Education Ministry will be organising the Palestine Solidarity Week from Oct 29 to Nov 3.

In a statement, the ministry announced that the programme aimed to educate students about humanitarian values, encompassing human rights and the qualities of compassion, including concerns for the suffering of others regardless of their nationality, religion or social status.

According to the statement, the Palestine Solidarity Week was a continuation of instilling pure values found in the Civics Education subject as it was based on principles of respect, compassion, responsibility and joy.

"Various activities will be conducted during this programme which will be based on existing guidelines, schools and the groups of students involved.

"Spiritual activities such as solat hajat (special prayers) and munajat (supplication) will involve only Muslim students," the statement said today.

The ministry added that the programme involved all educational institutions under it, including schools, vocational colleges, matriculation colleges and Teacher Education Institutes throughout the country.

The ministry supported the government's stance to stand together to defend the rights and freedom of the Palestinian people.

"This support is in a form of solidarity with humanitarian values that prioritise global peace and security.
