SHAH ALAM - A 16-month-old baby girl died after she was found unconscious in a car at a public university in Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu.

Initial police investigations revealed that the victim's father had forgotten to send her to the university's daycare centre before going to work.

Kuala Terengganu police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Md Din said police were informed about the incident at 4.30pm yesterday.

"The baby was pronounced dead at the university's health centre.

"Her body has been sent to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah for a post-mortem," he said.

Abdul Rahim said police were still investigating and would record statements from those involved under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

He urged the public not to speculate about the incident and let police complete their investigations.

This is the second similar incident that happened in the country this month.
