Match made in millennial heaven: Kurt Cobain’s daughter marries Tony Hawk’s son
Frances Bean Cobain, the offspring of grunge icons Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, and Riley Hawk, the son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and Cindy Dunbar, have officially tied the knot.
The union of these '90s royalty scions took place on Oct 7 in Los Angeles, United States, after they obtained their marriage license in San Diego, according to court documents obtained by American tabloid news TMZ.
Notably, the ceremony was officiated by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who also happens to be Frances' godfather.
A spokesperson for Tony Hawk, the elder of the Hawk clan, confirmed the wedding however he refrained from providing any further details.
Frances, 31-year-old is known for her career as an artist and model, while 30-year-old Riley has embraced his father's legacy as a professional skateboarder. The couple publicly revealed their relationship in Jan 2022, with Frances showing off moments that brought her "a great amount of joy". Her now father-in-law, Tony Hawk, and his fourth wife, Catherine Goodman also made an appearance in the carousel post.
Frances had been previously married to musician Isaiah Silva, however, their marriage ended in 2017, resulting in a messy divorce that saw France lose her late father's prized Martin D-18E acoustic guitar to her ex.
Silva had claimed that Frances had gifted him the guitar, which her father had famously used during his 1993 MTV Unplugged performance, but Frances denied this claim. Ultimately, a judge ruled against her wish to keep the guitar in her family.
