SHAH ALAM - The police have confirmed the arrest of four men, including three politicians from Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), for obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said that the incident took place during an integrated operation at the Silver Valley Technology Park project site (in the Kanthan Industrial Area) in Kanthan Baru, Chemor.

"Those arrested were three men from a political party, aged between 30 and 68, and a 53-year-old farmer.

"At about 10am, an integrated operation under Section 425 of the National Land Code of 1965 (for unlawful occupation of government land) was carried out at the site.

"The operation was led by the state Lands and Mines Department and jointly joined by other state government agencies, while policemen were there to maintain security throughout the operation," he said in a statement today.

Yahya said during the operation conducted at around 2.30pm, a group of farmers and members of a political party obstructed PTG officers from carrying out enforcement duties under Section 425 of the National Land Code of 1965.

"The police were subsequently forced to arrest three Indian men (political party members) aged between 30 and 68 years and one Chinese man (a farmer) aged 53 under Section 186 of the Penal Code (obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties).

"A police report was also filed regarding these arrests," he added.

All suspects were released on police bail after the investigation process was completed, he added.

In a similar development, the police received a police report from the PTG concerning a Chinese woman, believed to be from the political party, who obstructed PTG vehicles during an enforcement operation in the area.

"This case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties.

"The integrated operation was successfully carried out, and the farmers and political party members who had gathered in the operation area dispersed peacefully at around 2.45pm," he said.
