Flood: Two more relief centres open in Perak
IPOH - Two more flood relief centres (PPS) have been opened in this state due to heavy rain in the Hilir Perak and Kerian districts, to accommodate 182 victims from 59 families, as of 6pm today.
State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement, said the two PPS are the Teluk Intan Municipal Council hall in Hilir Perak and Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Lobak, Kerian, which were opened at 6pm and 5.30pm, respectively.
However, the Secretariat informed that the number of victims in these two PPS will be updated as the evacuation process is ongoing.
The number of flood victims at the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall PPS, which opened yesterday, has also increased this evening, compared to 50 people from 16 families in the morning.
"The affected areas include Lorong Kedah, the lane behind the Changkat Jong Rural Clinic, Batu 9, Simpang 3, Batu 10, Batu 7 and Lorong Sidang Osman, all in the Hilir Perak district,” it said.
According to the Secretariat, the water level at the Bidor River is still at the danger level, with a reading of 4.10 m compared to 4.13 m this morning, and rain is forecasted until tonight in both districts.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat also informed that Jalan Kubu Gajah Ijok-Sumpitan in Selama has been closed due to a landslide, while Jalan Pintasan Kampung Sumpitan-Kampung Masjid has been designated as an alternative route. - BERNAMA
