Farmers association staff evacuate building after 'explosion'

KUALA LUMPUR - Farmers Association (LPP) staff had to evacuate their Jalan Sultan Salahuddin building earlier today after an explosion occurred on the fifth floor.
Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, who was scheduled to participate in an engagement session with the media at about 2.30pm, was also present at the scene.
A Fire and Rescue Department team arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Rusdi Ismail said his team received a distress call at 2pm.
"Firefighters from the Sentul Fire and Rescue Station, consisting of seven members and equipped with the necessary machinery, rushed to the scene," he said.
Upon arrival at 2.09pm, firefighters received a public alert regarding an explosion in an electrical room on one of the building's floors.
"A preliminary examination, conducted in cooperation with the building's electrician, identified the underground cable fire as the source of the explosion.
"Fortunately, the incident did not lead to structural damage to the building or cause harm to anyone present at the scene," added Rusdi.
