KUALA LUMPUR - Emirates and Batik Air Malaysia have announced a codeshare agreement, providing Emirates' customers with access to five domestic Malaysian cities and three regional Southeast Asian destinations operated by Batik Air via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The launch event was graced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who praised the strategic partnership between Emirates and Batik Air, highlighting the multitude of opportunities it presents to travellers worldwide.

"We are delighted with this partnership, which has the potential to strengthen Malaysia's role as a prominent gateway to the region.

"We anticipate increased traffic at KLIA, particularly to enhance connectivity to regional destinations," said Loke.

The enhanced collaboration was introduced by Emirates' Senior Vice President Commercial Operations (Far East), Orhan Abbas, and Batik Air Group Strategic Director, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy.

Under the agreement, Emirates will place its code on Batik Air-operated flights to Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, Johor Bahru, Denpasar, Jakarta, and Singapore, providing customers with a seamless travel experience as they connect to new destinations using a single ticket and a convenient baggage policy.

Emirates' customers will also have the option to stop in Kuala Lumpur before proceeding to their final destinations.

The airline will also gain access to eight additional destinations operated by Batik Air via Kuala Lumpur for interline transfers.
