Palestinian rally: Social media influencer urges prioritising greater cause over trivial concerns
SINAR DAILY REPORTERSHAH ALAM - Social media influencer and digital creator Asma Nasa calls on people to focus on the bigger issue rather than harping on petty matters.
Following the recent Palestinian rally at Dataran Merdeka, she said the event organisers, non-governmental organisations (NGO) Viva Palestina Malaysia (VPM) and Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare), had carried out a peaceful and successful rally in showing their solidarity with the Palestinian people and calling for an end to the armed strikes by Israeli forces.
"People need to stop creating an issue out of nothing. Everything and everyone is being blamed. This NGO and its organisers did an amazing rally today.
"There was chanting of Allahuabakar. No problem, but there was also a clear message that this is for all Malaysians," she said on her Instagram post.
She said this in response to a user's comment that the rally wasn't successful and that the chanting of Allahuakbar was not allowed.
"I was there. They already asked nicely to take that poster down. We must understand that it is a peaceful rally and that anything can be twisted against us.
"We must respect the organisers. They have done this for many years. If those groups of people insist on holding up that poster, then by all means do it, just not this morning," she said.
Earlier today, actor Qi Razali shared a screenshot of a story on his X account where a person who had attended the rally with the handle @syedizzathussain expressed his disappointment with the event's organiser, @vivapalestinamy, and specifically Dr Musa Nordin, who he claimed had talked down to their group at the rally.
The contentious issue arose when some participants held up placards featuring the image of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, branding him a "war criminal." "Very disappointed with the organiser, especially Dr Musa, for using his stage to talk down to us, just for holding up a placard of war criminal Netanyahu, which the whole world, including those who have attended Palestine rallies in the United Kingdom and the United States, are doing," Syed said in the post.
