Pas and Umno are not the same - Pas Youth chief

SHAH ALAM - Pas Youth chief vehemently dismisses claims that Pas is not the same as Umno.

Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said this when the top posts in Pas were won by default while there were no contests for the top posts in Umno.

"We are not the same as Umno because the top posts in Pas were opened for contest and selection.

"However, there were no contests (for the top posts) in Umno in the first place.

"Pas won in the previous by-election but Umno lost all the seats in all the three states which are Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan," he said during his speech at the 69th Pas Muktamar's Ceramah Perdana.

He said Umno should be ashamed because their leaders should be liable and responsible and not lie.

"Umno promised previously they won't go with DAP and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim but in the end, they are with them and their chairman is the second most important person in our country," he said.

He also said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has the biggest court cases for misappropriation of funds and was freed from all charges.

"The public prosecutor withdrew the case and this is the reason Umno wants to change its chairman.

"Who would defend Islam and speak for our religion, if it's not us who would?.

"If we didn't defend our religion, then eventually Malaysia would be colonised," he said.

Besides, he said as a plural society, Pas would also like to focus not only on Muslim voters but also non-Muslim voters.
