Hadi's statement at Pas Muktamar does not reflect true Islamic values - PM's political secretary
KUALA LUMPUR - The statement by Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang at the 69th Pas Muktamar yesterday regarding the Madani government does not reflect him as a religious man with true Islamic values, said the Prime Minister’s political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi.
He expressed disappointment over the statement by Abdul Hadi, which he said, implied that the government could not be "purified” because it is led by a bad leader..
Ahmad Farhan said as a religious person, Abdul Hadi should preach the values of togetherness, unity and brotherhood.
"I am of the opinion that to be in politics, one has to exercise moderation and not divide the people, slander and pit them against each other," he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Farhan said he hoped this would be a lesson to all parties, the need to be moderate in politics and not belittle parties with different ideologies.
Meanwhile, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) also lashed out at Abdul Hadi for issuing such a statement as it demeaned the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
The movement, in a statement today, said the offensive name-calling was not the first by the Pas leadership.
"It has in fact become one of his favourite label to use on the Prime Minister.
"It has been fated that our Prime Minister is one of the people who was tested with accusations and slander to the extent that he was imprisoned in his struggle before he rose to helm the country,” said AMK and advised Abdul Hadi to reflect on himself. - BERNAMA
