HANGZHOU - Handsome national long jump champion Datuk Abdul Latif Romly was an instant hit among members of the public, especially women here as he paraded at the 2022 Asian Para Games torch relay event, here, today.

The 26-year-old double gold medalist of the Paralympic Games was greeted with thunderous cheers before being surrounded by female fans who also wanted to take pictures with him as he completed the torch run through Pinglan Road in the Zheijiang district.

Earlier, he was given the honour as the 59th individual out of 110 runners to carry the torch following his success in winning the gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and 2020 Tokyo, Japan Paralympics.

Abdul Latif who did not disappoint them as he took time to meet the wishes of his fans for photo at the torch run and they complimented him for his good looks.

"This is the first time I have been given the opportunity to carry the torch, so I am very happy. The people here are also sporting," he told Bernama.

It was Abdul Latif's third appearance at the Asian Para Games after 2014 in Incheon, South Korea and 2018 Jakarta-Palembang, Indonesia where he successfully brought home the gold medal in the T20 long jump (intellectual impairment). - BERNAMA
