SHAH ALAM – Perak Pas has reached out to Umno assemblymen in the state, beseeching them to switch allegiance which will inevitably lead to the dissolution of the current Perak government, potentially allowing Perikatan Nasional (PN) to take its place.

The high-stakes conciliatory gesture was voiced by Perak Pas delegate Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Aziz during the presidential address debate session of the 69th Pas Muktamar held, here, today.

Fakhrudin said the composition of the Perak state assembly was in such a way that it would be favourable to PN even if at least three of Umno assemblymen throw their support behind PN instead of Pakatan Harapan (PH).

This was so because, PN only needed a total of 29 seats to form government. The coalition has 26 seats, whereas PH has 24 but managed to form government due to the additional support from Umno’s eight and MCA’s single seats.

“We only need at least three seats but if we have more then we’ll be even stronger.

“So, I would like call on the Umno assemblymen in Perak to please lend us your support so that we can form an even stronger state government,” Fakhrudin entreated.

The 69th Pas Muktamar was officiated yesterday and will conclude tomorrow. This was the second Muktamar held in Selangor after ten years with the first being in 2013.
