ROME - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Friday she is separating from her long-time partner, the television journalist Andrea Giambruno, reported German news agency (dpa).

"My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost 10 years, ends here," Meloni wrote on social media.

She thanked him for the 'splendid years' they had together.

The two, who were not married, have a seven-year-old daughter together.

"Our paths have diverged for some time, and the time has come to acknowledge it."

Nearly a year ago, Meloni became the first woman to lead a government in Italy.

Her coalition of three right-wing parties will have been in office for exactly a year this Sunday. - BERNAMA-DPA
