Be firmer in insisting Israel be brought to International Court, Hadi tells govt
MUKHRIZ MAT HUSIN NURHIDAYAH HAIROMSHAH ALAM - The government should be firmer in urging that Israel be brought to the international court for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's actions in addressing the issue of the Israeli Zionist military's brutality were seen as weak and not forceful enough.
"Yes, (Anwar's action is) not strong enough. He doesn't dare to openly support Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah, although these three groups cannot be equated with Daesh because these groups are fighting against Israel in accordance with Islamic law.
"Hamas' 'Operation al-Aqsa' targets only the military. The Quran says one cannot kill the elderly, children, women, or church priests and cannot destroy places of worship because this is the teaching of Islam.
"Israel strikes everything, with support from the United States and European countries. They can do everything, including violating international laws," he said.
He made these statements during a press conference at the 69th Muktamar Pas at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), here, today.
Since Oct 8, Israel had conducted airstrikes in the Gaza Strip in response to the launch of 5,000 rockets by Hamas into that forbidden land.
Armed conflicts were still ongoing between both parties in various locations, including a police station in Sderot on the Gaza border.
