SHAH ALAM – Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has taken a critical stance against the DAP, who are often associated with extreme views on the Islamic religion.

The Marang MP also said DAP's frequent attacks on Pas include accusing them of utilising Islamophobia as a political tool.

"The Chinese community can vote for an Indian candidate from DAP which raises the question, why wouldn't Chinese voters consider Pas?

“All the statements by Pas are primarily aimed at DAP, which is often perceived as having extreme views on Islam.

“In fact, many of these statements are misinterpreted by the media,” Hadi said during a press conference at the 69th Muktamar Pas held at the Ideal Convention Centre, here.

Hadi further added that having relations with non-Muslims was not an issue.

"If non-Muslims can embrace Western ideology, why can't Chinese and Indian communities embrace Islam as an ideology with a rich history of governing significant nations,” Hadi pointed out.

On top of that, Hadi also acknowledged that Pas faces challenges in disseminating information to non-Muslim communities, leading to limited information access for these groups.

However, he expressed confidence in Pas's ability to gain support from non-Muslim communities.

He said that Islam allowed for the inclusion of non-Muslims, even in cabinet positions, particularly in roles related to non-legislative duties.

"In areas where Perikatan Nasional has governed, such as the state of Kelantan, where we have held power for 30 years, non-Muslims have had positive experiences, similar to those in Kedah and Terengganu,” Hadi said.
