IPOH - Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) leveraged their extensive experience against Perak FC during the first semi-final match of the Malaysia Cup, which took place at Perak Stadium last night.

Perak FC manager Yusri Che Lah said the Southern Tigers zeroed in on their expertise to benefit over his predominantly young players in the lineup.

"Our players were too respectful to the opponents, which made them a bit nervous. Giving away the first goal in just the seventh minute lowered our team's spirits.

"Despite the substantial loss, I commend my players for their relentless effort and strong performance throughout the entire match," he said at the post-game press conference last night.

In the match, JDT netted four goals, with Oscar Arribas in the seventh minute, Arif Aiman Hanapi (12th minute), Shahrul Saad (71st), and Nazmi Faiz Mansor (80th).

The Bos Gaurus managed to salvage a goal when their Argentinean import, Luciano Guaycochea, scored in the 72nd minute.

Yusri added that despite his team's tough loss, he remained resilient, and did not give up. He vowed to maintain their competitive spirit for the upcoming second semi-final match at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (SSI) on Nov 2.

"We acknowledge that the match with JDT was indeed difficult, but in football, anything is possible. We must keep pushing forward and fight until the end," he added.

Meanwhile, JDT manager Esteban Solari said despite his team's comfortable win, it was a challenge as the Perak players fought relentlessly throughout the match.

"They (Perak) put up a fierce fight, occasionally put us in difficult situations. However, overall, my players performed well, especially in the first half.

"I believe there were a couple of chances that could have led to goals, but luck wasn't on our side. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with the overall result," added.

He said his team is serious about the upcoming rematch at SSI and is optimistic of securing a victory. - BERNAMA
