UN criticised for failing to implement Palestine-Israel ceasefire
MELAKA - The United Nations (UN) Security Council has been criticised for not making a decision and order to stop the war between Palestine and Israel.
Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam said the organisation's committee should hold discussions and come up with an agreement so that both sides implement a ceasefire.
He said the United States (US) should use its veto power as a world power to jointly restore peace by supporting a ceasefire and asking Israel to stop the attack and leave Palestine.
"So what is the UN for? You can't do something as simple as this and just let people fight, send weapons and so on.
"They bombed a hospital, pity those who are sick but were bombed. So the world should not let this violence go on like this," he said.
He said this during the Palestine-Israel War and the Liberation of al-Aqsa Mosque forum held at Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (GUC) at the Yayasan Belia Dunia building in Ayer Keroh here on Wednesday.
He added that the US should play the country's original role in expanding humanitarian missions instead of encouraging wars.
"In the past, US was known as a country of peace to expand its humanitarian mission, but today it is reversed, we just heard that the US will definitely send bombs and rockets.
"I hope the ceasefire can be implemented because when it happens globally we will carry out humanitarian missions such as providing medical aid, food and so on to Palestine," he said.
