SHAH ALAM - Contrary to the claim of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Pas has not received any latest offer for the Islamist party to join the unity government.

“No. We have yet to receive anything or any offers,” said Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan in a brief response when asked by the media about the matter when he visited the media room at Pas 69th Muktamar here, today.

Anwar revealed the purported offer in an exclusive interview with Time magazine, stating that he had offered Pas an olive branch adding that he was open to the idea of making the Islamist party part of the government.

Last night, Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the only offer that he and other Pas leaders ever gotten was back when the unity government was about to be formed.

“We decided against it because we wanted to respect the people’s mandate given to us in the 15th General Election.

“So, we chose to stay in the opposition bloc,” said Tuan Ibrahim at a press conference after officiating the Pas Youth’s 64th Muktamar, yesterday.
