Factory worker claims trial to possessing IED, pistol, kerambit
BUTTERWORTH - A factory worker claimed trial at the Magistrate's Court here today on two charges of possessing an improvised explosive device (IED) and an imitation pistol without valid permit.
Bonny Anak Tigong, 32, also pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here for possessing a kerambit (a sickle-shaped knife).
He is alleged to have committed all the offences at the Mak Mandin flats between 6.30pm and 7.35pm last Sunday (Oct 8).
He was charged under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, Section 36 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 7(1)(a) of the Corrosive, Explosion Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
Magistrate Siti Zulaikha set bail at RM8,000 with one surety for both charges and fixed Nov 16 for mention.
Meanwhile, at the Sessions Court, Judge Noor Aini set bail at RM7,000 with one surety and fixed Nov 16 for mention for submission of documents and for the accused to appoint a lawyer.
