Gazans having to queue 1km to get food, forced to drink dirty water - Dr Ziad
JOHOR BAHRU - It’s been nine days since the latest clash in Palestine involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime began, and residents in the Gaza Strip are having to queue for a kilometre to get food, and forced to drink dirty water.
MyCare Gaza manager Dr Ziad Shehada reported that the situation in Gaza was critical and getting worse with restrictions on obtaining clean water and insufficient food supply.
"My own son stood in line for three hours and was only given a piece of bread. We only eat once a day, and this is also to avoid using a lot of water. This is the situation of the people in Gaza.
"My family and I also drink the dirty water supply because we have no other option. My son is facing kidney problems and needs a clean water supply," he said in a daily report to the MyCare headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
According to him, each house now had between 60 to 70 people in them, and at times up to 100 people, as they moved from one place to another for shelter.
Ziad said there were between 200 to 300 people dying daily with the latest death toll at 2,300 and over 4,000 injured due to the attacks by the Zionist regime.
Recently, MyCare distributed the first phase of aid worth RM236,650 including medical aid and food packs.
Medical aid was distributed at Gaza's Al-Syifaa Hospital to about 800 patients, comprising medicines, wheelchairs, baby and adult diapers and first aid kits.
In addition, as many as 1,000 food packs were distributed in schools in Gaza that housed those whose homes were destroyed.
Aid has so far been distributed in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.
According to Ziad, after the end of this conflict, the people of Gaza need humanitarian aid from around the world, especially basic supplies to continue their daily lives.
Meanwhile, in his latest Facebook post last night, Ziad said: "I have to go, the hospital I am in, has just received a warning from Zionists and is threatened with destruction, but the management refuses to evacuate the hospital. I will see you later, if I am still alive." - BERNAMA
