Penang Mufti calls for nationwide boycott against companies funding the Israeli regime
GEORGE TOWN - Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor, has called upon all Malaysians to boycott companies, especially international ones, that are found to be providing financial support to the Israeli regime.
Malaysia, as an Islamic country, was urged to follow the actions of several other nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, and Kuwait, which Wan Salim said, have already initiated boycotts against such companies, including a well-known fast-food restaurant.
He stressed on the importance of this boycott, particularly against businesses from the United States, which have been linked in aiding the Zionist regime and the Israeli military responsible for attacking Palestinians in Gaza.
"The Muslim community worldwide must assist their brethren who are fighting on Palestinian soil to defend themselves and their homeland against the cruel attacks of the Israeli regime," he said when contacted today.
Previously, the Israeli military had devastated critical infrastructure in Gaza, including hospitals, mosques, water supplies, and residential homes.
Israel has deployed white phosphorus bombs in attacks on the western port area of Gaza, leading to respiratory distress among Palestinians, as reported by Palestinian medical sources.
These attacks have resulted in hundreds of Palestinians suffering from respiratory problems, with many requiring hospitalization and medical treatment in the field.
Wan Salim also called on all Malaysians, irrespective of their religious backgrounds, to fulfil their humanitarian obligations by providing aid to the people of Gaza to alleviate their suffering caused by these attacks.
“The United States needs to be made aware of the 'double standard' policy it has been practicing for so long.
“The world's major power supports the Republic of Ukraine against Russia, while in Palestine, it favours the Israeli occupiers and helps them in attacking the people struggling to regain their rights and their country, which has been taken by Israel since 1948," he said.
