Chaos ensues as Johor mall shoppers evacuate due to bomb threat
SHAHRIZAL AHMAD ZAINIJOHOR BAHRU - Mid Valley Mall, a popular shopping centre in South Key, was evacuated as thousands of visitors were directed to leave the premises due to a bomb threat incident.
Panic and chaos unfolded as visitors hurriedly exited the shopping center at around 6.30pm.
The tense situation was documented in various social media posts.
Johor Bahru district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed that an investigation is underway, and no official confirmation has been provided.
A check by Sinar revealed that thousands of visitors were still congregated in the open parking area adjacent to the shopping centre.
One visitor, identified as Mastura, 35, recounted her experience during the incident.
She said she was waiting in line to pay for purchased clothes when the security guard suddenly announced the evacuation.
She left the clothes she had intended to purchase at the payment counter in response to the urgent directive.
