Plane lands in Egypt with much-need medical supplies for Gaza
GENEVA - The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Saturday said that a plane with much-needed medical supplies for the people of the Gaza Strip had landed in Egypt.
"A plane with WHO medical supplies to support the urgent health needs in Gaza has landed in Al Arish, Egypt - close to the Rafah crossing," Anadolu Agency reported Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who heads the UN agency, said on X.
"We’re ready to deploy the supplies as soon as humanitarian access through the crossing is established," he added.
WHO's office in the occupied Palestinian territory said on X that the supplies that arrived at Al Arish will serve the urgent needs of more than 300,000 people out of the strip’s total population of over two million.
According to Gaza Health Ministry, the number of Palestinians killed by a massive Israeli air assault against the Gaza Strip since Oct 7 has risen to 2,215, Anadolu Agency reported the Gaza Health Ministry said Saturday.
The ministry in a statement that 724 children and 458 women were among the people killed in the Israeli attacks, while the number of wounded has risen to 8,714, including 2,450 children and 1,536 women. - BERNAMA
