Police to investigate allegation of officer refusing to accept report

IPOH - The police will conduct an investigation into an allegation that its member refused to accept a report lodged by the family of a female student who was almost hit by a lorry.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the case will be referred to the Batu Gajah district police headquarters.

"The police never turned down anyone to make a report, no matter where.

"Whatever it is, I will get a report from Batu Gajah district police chief first.

"Any action will be taken if the allegation is found to be true," he said today.

Earlier, a video showing a female student almost being hit by a lorry that failed to stop when the traffic light turned red in front of a school in Batu Gajah went viral on social media.

According to the video, a police officer on duty allegedly refused to accept the report made by the victim's family and asked witnesses of the incident to come forward to identify the vehicle involved.
