SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has established a Palestinian Humanitarian Fund to coordinate fundraising efforts to aid the conflict-stricken country.

Its Director, Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said this initiative aims to centralise donations collected from all mosques and prayer halls in Selangor.

He added that this step also aims to ensure that no individuals or entities exploit the collection of alms for their benefit, interests, or the development of the Islamic community.

"Jais will channel contributions through authorities recognised by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council to ensure that assistance reaches the intended recipients.

“As widely understood, the conflict situation in Palestine has continued since Oct 7, and to this day, it has not ended.

“The public is encouraged to donate to the fund provided in mosques and prayer halls or directly contribute to the Maybank Tabung Infak Jariah Umat Islam Selangor (TIJARI) account with the account number 56210671862, referencing 'Pray For Gaza'.

“All mosques and prayer halls are urged to recite Qunut Nazilah prayers and hold special supplication prayers to invoke safety, fortitude, and the victory of the Palestinian people," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Shahzihan added that his department coordinates fundraising efforts to assist flood victims in Libya and earthquake-affected Morocco and Afghanistan.
