SHAH ALAM - The Special Task Force for Agency Reform (STAR) will expedite elevator maintenance projects worth RM91 million and government quarters worth RM170 million.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this in the second Madani Budget 2024 today, aiming to address hospital congestion, underprivileged clinics and improve school infrastructure.

He added that RM2.4 billion is allocated for constructing, maintaining, and refurbishing public servants', teachers', hospital staffs', police, military, and fire department quarters.

The task force is led by the Chief Secretary to the Government and also includes secretaries-general and directors-general from all agencies.

The task force has been supported by a think tank and a technical team, comprising public service officers selected to formulate ideas and study the issues or problems affecting the people.

STAR is directly accountable to the prime minister, while the Performance Enhancement Coordination Unit and the Malaysian Productivity Corporation are the joint secretariats.
