PUTRAJAYA - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressed his support for the Hamas freedom fighters, primarily their attacks towards Israel.

Dr Mahathir said Hamas’s actions were due to the cruelty faced by Palestinians for a long period with no longer having any other options than to conduct such operations.

“I support Hamas 100 per cent,” he said while receiving a round of applause from attendees of a talk held at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here on Wednesday.

He said the Israeli regime would not stand quietly and would take revenge with their attacks.

“For the first time in 70 years, Israelis are feeling the pressure from the Palestine operations,” he said.

Dr Mahathir was among the world leaders voicing his anger and displeasure over Israel’s oppression of Palestine.

He criticised Israel at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States five years ago.

Last Saturday, Hamas freedom fighters from the Gaza Strip had launched an operation towards Israel which took the lives of over 700 Israelis.
