Supermodel Gigi Hadid breaks silence with neutral stand on civilian casualties
SHAH ALAM - Palestinian American model Gigi Hadid breaks silence days following the Israel-Palestinian conflict, with a neutral stand on civilian casualties
Hadid, the daughter of Palestinian-American real estate developer Mohamed Hadid took to Instagram to describe the ongoing conflict as an unjustifiable tragedy.
"My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict too many of which are children.
"The terrorising of innocent people is not in alignment with and does not do any good for the 'Free Palestine' movement.
"The idea that it does has fuelled a painful, decades-long cycle of back and forth retaliation and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine (equates to) antisemitic'," she said.
Hadid said that no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli deserved to be a victim of the bloodshed.
“If you are hurting, as I share my condolences today with my loved ones, both Palestinian and Jewish, I am sending you my love and strength – whoever and wherever you are
“There are a lot of complex, personal and valid feelings but every human deserves basic rights, treatments and security n matter their nationality, religion, ethnicity or where they were born.
“I know my words will never be enough or heal the deep wounds of so many, but I pray for the safety of innocent lives, always,” she added.
The operations against Israel were followed by the latter declaring a formal war against Hamas, with the escalating retaliation leading to a rising death toll of 1,800 victims on both sides since Saturday.
Both Gigi and her sister who is also a supermodel Bella Hadid had been vocal in their support for the Palestinian cause.
