KOTA KINABALU - The individual spreading a video of plastic rice allegedly being sold has apologised.

He did so via a video shared on the official Sazarice Sdn Bhd's Facebook page on Tuesday.

In the one minute 19 second video clip the man apologised for spreading the fake video on the sale of plastic rice.

“I would like to apologise to those who saw my video which caused the plastic rice issue to spread and I would like to apologise towards Sazarice and all companies who were hurt by my words.

“It’s not true. I would like to apologise to all who saw my video.I would like to apologise as it was false, that was genuine rice. Maybe it was my mistake, I would like to apologise to all, the Sazarice company and other companies,” he said.

Sazarice Sdn Bhd in a statement on its Facebook page stated that the individual spreading the viral plastic rice issue had come to the Sandakan Sazarice Sdn Bhd Branch management office on Tuesday to voluntarily and apologise for spreading fake information on his social media account.

“Sazarice urged the public to stop spreading fake videos regarding Sazarice products.

“Sazarice would not hesitate to take legal actions on those attempting to tarnish the good name of the company and create public unrest. Thank You,” the post read.

Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Ministry Datuk Chan Foong Hin in his statement said the Sazarice Sdn Bhd company had received an apology from the individual.
