SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) has called on the global community to clearly express solidarity, support, and backing for the Palestinian people's struggle amid the escalating conflict between Palestine and Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Its secretary-general Hasnul Haniff Harun, said that the world needs to recognise the policy of oppression by the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people for over 70 years, which was the root cause of the conflict, including the "Operation Al-Aqsa Storm." He said that continuous colonisation, the expansion of illegal settlements, the denial of Palestinian human rights, and systematic provocations in Al-Aqsa have resulted in the loss of millions of Palestinian lives.

"MBM urges immediate intervention by the United Nations (UN) to protect the lives of innocent civilians and to proactively play a role in stopping these attacks.

"The global community needs to acknowledge and defend the rights of the Palestinian people and the sovereignty of their homeland.

"Palestinians have the right to live in peace based on pre-1967 recognised borders," he said in a statement today.

He emphasised that human rights, especially those of women, children, and the elderly, must be upheld.

"We urge world leaders to continue exerting pressure on the Zionist regime through UN diplomatic channels and declare full support for the Palestinian people.

"The Malaysian government, through the Foreign Ministry, has also expressed solidarity with Palestine.
