BENTONG – The body of an Orang Asli man was discovered near a drain on Sunday in the Jalan Benus residential area on Sunday.

He was believed to have died after falling from a coconut tree.

Bentong District Police Chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the discovery of the body of the victim identified as Jeka Gedeng, 36, was reported to the police at about 8.55am.

He said initial investigation revealed that the man fell from a significant height, believed to be from the coconut tree near the drain.

"The victim's body was sent to Bentong Hospital for post-mortem process and the cause of death was internal bleeding in the stomach,” he said.

Zaiham urged people with information related to the incident to contact the Bentong district police headquarters at 09-2222222 or any nearby police station to assist with the investigation.

“The public is also advised not to spread false information and make any speculations regarding the incident," he said.
