BENTONG - Newly appointed Barisan Nasional (BN)'s Pelangai state assemblyman Datuk Amizar Abu Adam says he will continue the legacy of the late Datuk Seri Johari Harun.

“To the residents of Pelangai, the campaign is over. The election is over. I will never forget the voters here for choosing BN.

"BN will provide trust and service here in the state assembly. I thank you all.

“So from now on, I will continue the legacy of Allahyarham Datuk Seri Johari,” he told reporters after the result announcement at Dewan Orang Ramai Felda Kemasul today.

The Pelangai state assembly seat under the Bentong parliament fell vacant following the death of incumbent Johari, who perished in a plane crash on Aug 17.

Amizar has emerged victorious in a three-way electoral bout with a majority of 2,949 votes.

Amizar secured 7,324 votes against Perikatan Nasional's (PN) Kasim Samat, who garnered 4,375 votes, and independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni, who only earned a meagre amount of votes (47).

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, and everyone involved in this election,” he said.
