Pelangai by-election: Voting ends, ballot counting begins
BENTONG - The polling process for the Pelangai by-election, which commenced at 8AM, has concluded as all polling centers closed their doors at 6PM today.
All ballot boxes from the nine polling centers, encompassing 30 voting channels, will be transported to the official vote counting center located at the Felda Kemasul Public Hall, here.
The official results are expected to be announced around 9PM tonight.
As of 4PM, a total of 69 per cent of eligible voters had exercised their voting rights in the by-election for the state seat, as reported by the Election Commission (EC).
The by-election involved 16,456 eligible voters, including 36 police personnel and three overseas voters.
Interestingly, no early voting centers were opened, despite the set date of October 3, following the issuance of 73 postal ballots by the EC to eligible voters.
The Pelangai by-election featured a three-way competition involving Barisan Nasional's Datuk , Perikatan Nasional's Kasim Samat and independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni. - BERNAMA
