BENTONG - The young voters in Pelangai are enthusiastic about voting in the by-election, according to Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh.

"The youth today are truly inspiring.

"Young voters displayed a strong commitment to their civic duty, arriving early and patiently waiting in long lines to cast their votes," he told a press conference during his visit to the SMK Chemomoi voting centre today.

SMK Chemomoi is one of the nine polling centres for the constituency.

The Pelangai constituency has a total of 16,456 registered voters.

As of 10am today, Abdul Ghani revealed that an impressive 21 per cent of eligible voters had already exercised their right to vote.

"The weather, thankfully, played its part, not being too hot, and I hope that this favorable condition will encourage even more voters to come out and participate in the electoral process," he added.

Abdul Ghani further elaborated that the EC estimates that they can achieve a commendable 70 per cent voter turnout, a figure that highlights the dedication of the electorate.

The Pelangai by-election is a three-cornered fight between Datuk Amizar Abu Adam from Barisan Nasional (BN), Kasim Samat from Perikatan Nasional (PN), and independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni.
