Pelangai PN candidate arrives to cast vote
BENTONG - Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Pelangai constituency, Kasim Samat, cast his vote at SMK Chemomoi today.
Kasim, also known as Cikgu Kasim, arrived at the polling station at 8.22am wearing a white Baju Melayu.
SMK Chemomoi is one of the nine polling centres for the constituency, which opened at 8am today.
Pelangai constituency has a total of 16,456 registered voters.
The polling station was tightly monitored by Election Commission (EC) personnel and policemen for crowd control.
Kasim's two opponents, Datuk Amizar Abu Adam from the Barisan Nasional (BN) and independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni did not participate in the voting process.
The Pelangai by-election is a three-way contest between Kasim, Adam, and Zulhasni.
This election was prompted by the unfortunate plane crash in Shah Alam on Aug 17, which resulted in the loss of the incumbent assemblyman, Datuk Seri Johari Harun.
