JEMPOL - Former Jeram Padang state representative, Datuk L Manickam resigns from all positions within the MIC, including as the Negeri Sembilan MIC chairman, MIC Jempol division head and as a party member, effective today.

Manickam made this announcement on his Facebook page, citing that the national MIC leadership was aware of the underlying reasons for his decision.

He openly shared the two main reasons for his resignation: MIC's decision not to contest in the Jeram Padang State Legislative Assembly seat and his disappointment with the MIC Secretary-General, who requested his branch to hold another delegates' meeting due to a lack of quorum.

"I apologise for my decision. I found it difficult to leave MIC, which has been my second home for the past 45 years.

"I have adhered to principles of trustworthiness, integrity, and responsibility during my service holding positions within MIC and the government," Manickam wrote.

Manickam also expressed his gratitude to the MIC President, Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran, for his support throughout the years.

He also thanked former MIC President Tun Samy Vellu, Datuk Seri G Palanivel, and Datuk Seri S Subramaniam for their support, as well as everyone who has supported him.

Manickam joined MIC through the Jenjarom branch, Kuala Langat, in 1979, and has served the Indian community through MIC ever since.
