Pelangai by-election: 'Investigate election machinery, alleged misuse of government assets' - Tuan Ibrahim
BENTONG - The Election Commission (EC) has been urged to monitor the use of machinery and government assets that are misused by political parties in the Pelangai by-election.
Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man insisted that monitoring the provision of incentives by either the state government or the federal government to the people throughout the campaign also needs to be done.
"In addition to the use of government machinery and the presence of state government agency officials, there is also a need to monitor incentives such as 'durian runtuh' (sweeteners) for the people who will cast their votes later," he said in a statement on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The Cheka assemblyman said that such governance was clearly against the spirit of the reform struggle for the past 25 years brought by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"The EC has to keep an eye on all these things because they happen widely, and this clearly contradicts the existing rules.
"It is hoped that the monitoring party will also make an immediate report and the EC will take appropriate action," he said.
