Federal govt approves allocation to repair power station in Kenyir
KUALA TERENGGANU - The federal government has approved the state's application for an allocation to repair the Sultan Mahmud Power Station (SJSM) in Kenyir near Hulu Terengganu.
Terengganu Infrastructure, Utilities and Rural Development Committee chairman Hanafiah Mat said it involved works such as road, slope and bridge repairs which were being completed in stages.
"The major floods in late February and early March have caused severe damage to public infrastructure throughout Terengganu including at SJSM, Kenyir.
"Following that, the Menteri Besar applied for RM135.642 million allocation on April 16 to repair roads, slopes and bridges throughout Terengganu under the Public Works Department (JKR) while damage under the scope of the Irrigation and Drainage Department amounted to RM62.705 million," he told reporters when met at Wisma Darul Iman here today. - BERNAMA
