Vehicle towing service providers clash, eight arrested
KUALA LUMPUR - Police have detained eight men suspected of being involved in a brawl related to the towing of vehicles involved in an accident in Kampung Malaysia Tambahan here today.
Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin said they received a report from the public about an incident involving several individuals using weapons at 1.37am.
"Initial investigations found that this incident stemmed from a car accident case and a brawl between two parties who wanted to delay the towing," he said in a statement today.
Zam Halim said they have detained eight local men aged between 22 and 44 years old.
"We are still tracking down other suspects who are at large.
"The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code," he said.
Zam Halim stated that they would not compromise with anyone who does not comply with the country's laws, and strict action would be taken to ensure that the public remains safe and secure.
